10 best tips to make your Dubai visit absolutely perfect

When you are planning your travel to Dubai, be sure to keep it in mind that it’s a city of man made wonder and money. Lots and lots of it. Most of Dubai is still under construction and will be for a very long time to come but what waits when the entire construction is complete still fills me with a sense of wonder.

Here is a list of what you must do when you are in Dubai

  1. DUBAI SHOPPING FESTIVAL

In 2015, it’s the 20th anniversary of Dubai shopping festival (DSF) making it extra special! It will kick off on January 1, 2015 and last all the way through February 1, 2015. This is the time when the entire city is full of discounts and deals to attract shoppers from all over the world. One can expect something for each and every age group here, and that’s what makes it hard to miss, year on year, every year!

Travel Tip (TBOR Recommends)

The Karama Center is great for street shopping and heavy bargains.

Must shop for Carpets, Electronic items, Gold, Spices, Artifacts and Perfumes

  1. MALLS

Dubai Mall is massive and if you are able to complete it then you can also visit Mall of Emirates, which was the most famous mall in Dubai before Dubai Mall was made.

Even one day is not enough to cover the Dubai Mall

  1. BURJ KHALIFA

One entire evening needs to be dedicated to the marvel Burj Khalifa, and if you are not staying at the Address or Armani Hotel (which is a very wise idea, more on it later) it’s a must for you to go ‘At the top’ to see the wide expanse of what Dubai looks like from far up there. It is advisable that you buy your tickets online before you plan your visit as you can get to choose the time slot well in advance along with the added advantage of getting to buy it cheaper.

Travel tip (TBOR Recommends)

Choose the time slot in a manner that you get to see both the day view and the night view of Dubai, also it’s worth the wait to check out the Dubai fountain from At the top

  1. DUBAI FOUNTAIN

No matter how many shows of Dubai Fountain you see and however many times you see it, it can never be enough. It’s magical, memorable and free of cost, unless you take an Abra (boat ride) tour in the middle of the show.

Travel Tip (TBOR Recommends)

I do not recommend the Abra (boat ride) Tour,  instead I suggest you to enjoy your meal in one of the restaurants overlooking the fountain and to stay there till the end of the show.

  1. DESERT SAFARI

Make sure you invest in the best Desert Safari that suits your budget, because it is one of the best experiences that you will have in Dubai, especially if you have never seen a desert before.

Must go for the safari that organizes belly dance in the night as it adds to the entire desert experience!

  1. THE WALK- JUMEIRAH BEACH RESIDENCE

This is the most perfect strip of land by the beach for walks into the night, early morning yoga, restaurant hot spots, movie hall, fast food shops, open air movie screening restaurants at the beach, all this and more sums up the Walk. You cannot go to Dubai and not go here. The most relaxed place in Dubai has to be The Walk!

Travel tip (TBOR Recommends)

Opt to stay in a hotel/ apartment close to the walk during your visit to Dubai to make most of the beach during the early morning before your breakfast or late at night after your wonderful day in the ever buzzing Dubai . Close connectivity to the tram which connects to the metro that takes you almost anywhere in Dubai.

  1. DUBAI MARINA

It’s delight for those who love their Yacht tours or fishing! It is close to JBR so it makes even more sense to opt to stay close to JBR, if only to see so many yachts line up together!

Feel free to bargain as much as you can at the souks. There is a high chance that the shopkeepers there are overcharging.

  1. PALM ISLANDS

Do book a tour to view this beauty from a helicopter ride or by skydiving over it.

  1. AL QASR and BURJ AL ARAB

If you are in Dubai, you must choose Al Qasr (as your luxury destination) over Atlantis Hotel, The Address or anywhere else. Al Qasr is a wonderful hotel with backdrop of Burj Al Arab, a private beach, and Atlantis far off in the distance. What’s more you get the free entry to Wild Wadi Water Park which is easily accessible with the golf kart that is available round the clock in the property! Not to forget the inland waterways and unlimited Abra rides to restaurants or souks within the resort.
